Chicago Art Review presents a project by Philip von Zweck at the MDW Fair
For this project, I recruited a wide range of brilliant artists to each produce a work for display in the booth with the understanding that these pieces are not for sale. Instead, they are master-copies waiting to be printed; each work hanging will, at the request of a fair-goer, be taken off the wall and copied on a copy machine. Each copy will be stamped, numbered to ensure its authenticity, and then given to the person who requested it. The prints are free, and the print run is limited to the total number given out during the run of the fair.
This project was originally intended to be part of the Gallery 400 booth at Chicago's Next Fair, 2009, but was canceled due to technical limitations. It emerges now, awesomely, as a presentation by Chicago Art Review, a critical initiative by artist Steve Ruiz.
