Brian Kapernekas received his B.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 1999, and his M.F.A. from University of Illinois at Chicago, 2004. In 2005 Kapernekas' paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous two person and group exhibitions in Chicago including Between the Forest and the Cavern, The Guest Room Project Space, Centrally Located: The Artadia and the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation 2004 Artist Awards, Chicago Cultural Center; Things Fall from the Sky, Evanston Art Center; Cast, and Extension, both at Contemporary Art Workshop. In 2004 he participated in Tangential Pleasures, Suburban Fine Arts Center, Highland Park. Kapernekas is the recipient of several prestigious awards including a grant from the Artadia Foundation in 2004. (
